A pair of freshmen took home weekly awards from the Patriot League in their inaugural collegiate competitions as Jarrel Bobb and Devin Smith each one Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the men's and women's sides, the League announced Monday.

Just two days after the Fast Times Before Finals meet at Lehigh, the Lafayette track & field team went on the road again to Princeton, N.J. to compete in the New Year's Invitational on Sunday afternoon.

Sophomore Brittany Powell took first-place honors in the women's triple jump to lead the Lafayette track & field team at the Fast Times Before Finals meet, held at Lehigh on Friday evening. Powell jumped 11.53 meters to come away with the top mark.

The Lafayette track and field team opens its 2012-13 indoor season on Friday when the team travels to Bethlehem for the Fast Times Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Two seniors, Nick Hepp and Emily Valeo, have been honored as the 2012 Lafayette Maroon Club Scholar-Athlete of the Year award winners, announced at the Hall of Fame Dinner on Friday, Nov. 16.
